The checker evaluates six data points about your candidate and role: their nationality (EU vs non-EU), whether a confirmed job offer exists, their highest qualification level, whether that qualification is recognised in Spain, their professional sector, and their gross annual salary. Based on these inputs, it estimates whether your candidate is likely to qualify for the Spain Highly Qualified Professional (HQP) permit, the EU Blue Card, or neither and flags which fast-track processing route (UGE-CE) may apply. It does not assess NIE registration, TIE card requirements, or family permit eligibility. Those are covered in the full application process.

The checker is calibrated against 2026 Spanish immigration thresholds and UGE-CE processing criteria. It is designed to give you a reliable directional answer in under two minutes, not a legal determination. Results reflect the most common eligibility scenarios but cannot account for case-specific factors such as pending degree homologation timelines, employer registration status with the UGE-CE, or nationality-specific bilateral agreements. If your result shows a probable HQP or Blue Card pathway, our immigration team will confirm eligibility and identify any case-specific risks before filing.

Both the HQP permit and the EU Blue Card are fast-track routes for highly qualified non-EU talent in Spain, processed via the same UGE-CE unit at roughly the same speed (around 20 business days). The key differences the checker weighs are salary threshold and qualification type. The EU Blue Card requires a higher minimum salary (typically 1.0–1.6× the average gross Spanish salary, depending on sector) and a formally recognised higher education degree. The HQP permit accepts a lower salary floor and can accommodate candidates with 5+ years of senior professional experience in lieu of a degree. If your candidate qualifies for both, the checker will flag the Blue Card where the salary and qualification conditions are met as it offers EU-wide mobility rights the HQP does not.
